Transcold NZ Becomes Official Channel for Addvolt as Part of Carrier Transicold’s Electrification Expansion

June 09 2025

Transcold NZ, New Zealand’s exclusive distributor for Carrier Transicold, is excited to announce the addition of Addvolt’s advanced plug-in electric technology to its portfolio, following Carrier Global Corporation’s acquisition of Addvolt, a Portuguese pioneer in transport electrification solutions.

This milestone positions Transcold NZ as the local channel for Addvolt, providing New Zealand operators with direct access to industry-leading non-invasive, low-maintenance plug-in electric systems for refrigerated vans, trucks, trailers, and containers.

Addvolt technology is already proven in the New Zealand market through the Fairfax ZE all-electric refrigerated trailer system, which utilised Addvolt’s system to deliver a fully autonomous, zero-emissions refrigerated transport solution.

“This is a game-changer for the New Zealand market,” says Chris Devoy, CEO of Action Manufacturing, parent company of Fairfax, Freighter and Transcold. “Addvolt’s technology has already demonstrated its potential in our Fairfax ZE trailer. Now, with Transcold NZ officially bringing this solution to market, we can offer broader support to operators looking to lower emissions, reduce operating costs, and futureproof their fleets.”

The addition of Addvolt’s technology opens the door to exciting new possibilities across the New Zealand market. From powering off-grid mobile health units in remote communities, to helping operators retrofit their existing refrigerated fleets for zero-emissions compliance. This technology brings fresh solutions to challenges right across the transport, logistics, and mobile sectors. With Transcold NZ now able to offer Addvolt’s cutting-edge systems locally, we’re excited to help Kiwi businesses push boundaries and embrace a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient future.

“With Addvolt now part of the Carrier family, it’s an exciting time for Transcold NZ and our customers,” says Shaiden Lambert, Transcold NZ National Services Manager. “We can now offer the same cutting-edge electrification solutions used on the Fairfax ZE trailer, but with the added benefit of full local support, service, and parts through our national network. It’s a big step forward in helping our customers meet sustainability targets without compromising performance.”

This move supports New Zealand’s growing focus on decarbonising transport while enabling operators to reduce noise pollution, lower fuel use, and transition towards cleaner, quieter, and more efficient fleets.
